SUMMARY: We are currently seeking a Mental Health Worker to join ourInpatient Psych Unit. This part-timerole works a .7, 56 hours per 2 week pay period, 8 hour shifts, rotating days, overnights, and every other weekend.Purpose of this position: Under direct supervision of nursing staff, performs work of routine difficulty in assisting in the treatment of clients in an acute care inpatient settingA * hiring incentive*is available for eligible external candidates (current employees, contract/temporary workers, and former employees returning to HHS within one year are ineligible).Current List of non-MN States where Hennepin Healthcare is an Eligible Employer: Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maryland, Nevada, North Carolina, North Dakota, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Washington, and Wisconsin.RESPONSIBILITIES:Provides patient care to inpatients or patients in the psychiatric emergency department of HCMC under supervision of nursing staff; therapeutic 1:1, evaluates, intervenes, and reports to and works with nursing staff to follow individualized patient care plansParticipates in planning and implementing treatment team recommendations concerning individual and group patient programmingFollows the problem-oriented method for patient charting or reporting on behaviors observedPromotes and maintains a healthy and safe treatment settingProvides patient care with ADL'sMaintains an organized and clean milieuProvides milieu support to patients and nursing staff. May provide patient care activities and clerical activitiesMay perform various technical procedures after training, competency validation, and upon delegation from a Registered Nurse, such as phlebotomiesPerforms related work as required, but only after appropriate trainingQUALIFICATIONS: / Minimum Qualifications: /One year experience providing direct patient care services in a psychiatric or mental health setting-OR-Relevant college coursework in the social or behavioral sciences and/or approved demonstrated skills and ability to care for acutely mentally ill individuals-OR-An approved equivalent combination of training, experience, and education that may include experience such as working as an HCA/NA; nursing student; or group home experience/ Preferred Qualifications: /One year of related experience in a similar healthcare environment (behavioral health, nursing)Actively enrolled in or a graduate of a two-year or four-year behavioral health or registered nursing programTraining in (or willingness to learn) motivational interviewing techniques/ Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities: /Ability to de-escalate sometimes stressful patient situationsKnowledge of motivational interviewing skills and techniquesBasic computer skillsAbility to support and provide patient and family centered care in a team environmentAbility to meet the diverse needs of the patient population(s) being servedTitle: Mental Health Worker-Psychiatry InpatientLocation: MN-Minneapolis-Downtown CampusRequisition ID: 241916
