It is the best career decision for recent graduate students who plan to become a physician, physician assistant, or nurse practitioner. Medical scribes document patient charts into electronic health records. Items to be documented include the history of the patient's problem, the provider's physical examination findings, the providers treatments/plans, and more. EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS Pre med or science major or previous experience as a medical scribe RESPONSIBILITIES Accompany physicians into the patient examination room to transcribe a history and physical exam. Accurately document the physician’s encounter with the patient. List all proper diagnoses and symptoms as well as follow up instructions and prescriptions as dictated by the physician. Document any procedures performed by the physician. Provide patient education and back office medical assistance as needed This position requires a laser-like focus on capturing examination details, and a journalistic approach to listening and recording physician findings.
