Job Brief Responsible for Substation Maintenance Engineering, Substation Services, Substation Maintenance Troubleman Operations and Facilities Maintenance. Responsible for administration of formal procedures and compliance programs. Manages, directs and develops craft and technical personnel in performance of the Substation Asset Management function. Job Responsibilities • Responsible for the safe performance of all duties related to the divisional function. Ensures safe work practices and procedures are in place. Provides necessary tools, training, and equipment to ensure safe work performance. • Manages real time response to substation emergencies, obtaining all necessary resources and equipment to perform system restoration. Responsible for continuous coverage 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. The manager must work closely with peer managers to ensure consistent policies, procedures and standards are in effect as related to this function. • Responsible for a strong harmonious work relationship between labor and management to meet job assignments. • Responsible for the safe performance of all duties related to the Substation Asset Management function. Directs the necessary research, testing, inspection, and training for all equipment and procedures used by Substation Maintenance to ensure technical soundness and applicability for safe work performance. • Responsible for maintaining an adequate technical resource library including all necessary nameplate data, instructions, manufacturer specifications, inspections, procedures, tests, and other pertinent substation asset documentation. Ensures this information is promptly and accurately gathered and made readily available to Substation Maintenance personnel. • Responsible for identifying and inventory the necessary spare parts and special tools required by Substation Maintenance. • Manager is responsible for working directly with Power System Engineering to develop or modify substation design standards, and to optimize the selection and procurement of future substation assets to reflect operation and maintenance needs. • Manages the review of all new substation assets installations for compliance to design standards. Identifies and documents deviations from design standards and provides feedback to construction. • Directs efforts to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of asset information entered into the maintenance management system. Directs development of the necessary skills required to maintain and enhance to utility of this system, and interacts with other O&M groups to optimize the interface to corporate data systems. • Manager is responsible for establishing comprehensive inspection and testing programs for all substation assets on a continuous cycle. Provides feedback and directs improvements on a variety of inspection and online testing tools. Documents all findings and provides management reports. Work directly with substation maintenance and construction management and supervision to improve preventive and corrective processes and procedures. • Directs/manages the work of engineers, analysts, and engineering technicians providing technical support in the day to day tasks of Substation Maintenance. Determines and implements appropriate task assignment and training of these personnel to develop the skill set necessary to accomplish the Substation Asset Management function. The manager is responsible for developing and tracking productivity and performance measures to accomplish function/corporate goals and objectives. • Responsible for participating in the sharing of knowledge with other substation organizations throughout the industry on current substation practices, and to identify any new tools or processes that may possible enhance SRP's practices. Education Completion of a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution that prepares the employee for the assignment. Experience Minimum of 8 years cumulative and progressive exempt level professional experience.
