Columbia Country Club Lifeguard Company Overview: Columbia Country Club is a private, member-owned club, conveniently located inside the Beltway in idyllic Chevy Chase, MD. Yet, the essence of Columbia is not defined by the dining rooms or the athletic facilities or even the social activities. Position Summary: Under the direction of the Pool Manager, the lifeguard is required to supervise the members and guests of the Club, keeping them safe in the Club's facilities. The successful candidate will execute all water safety policies and procedures, work to keep the pool area clean, and always conduct themselves professionally. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Build relationships with the membership by providing exceptional customer service. Continuously monitor the pool and supervise swimmers at all times to ensure their safety. React quickly and effectively to emergencies, including water rescues, injuries, and medical situations. Respectfully enforce Club policies regarding member attire and behavior when at the pool. Participate in weekly skill checks and monthly in-service trainings along with other Club mandated trainings. Ensure the pool area is clean and free of hazards. Conduct regular inspections of the facility, including pool equipment, safety equipment, and first aid kits. Assists with the set up and execution of delegated tasks during Swim meets and department events. Performs other reasonable tasks assigned by the Pool Manager. Qualifications and Functional Skills: Minimum 1-3 years related experience and education. Lifeguard, First Aid and CPR certification required. Pool Operators License is highly preferred. Applicant must demonstrate standard lifeguard techniques during the interview process. Demonstrates transferable skills such as problem-solving, teamwork, member service and effective communication. Ability to handle emergency situations calmly and effectively. Proficiency in using pool maintenance equipment and technology. Must be a minimum of 16 years of age. Able to meet the physical demands and responsibilities of the position including standing, sitting, and lifting/moving objects items up to 35 pounds. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
