Job Description: We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Licenced Social Worker to work with families of individuals with developmental disabilities. The ideal candidate will provide both emotional support and practical guidance to help families navigate the complexities of caring for a loved one with special needs. This role focuses on family dynamics, emotional resilience, and access to resources while fostering independence in individuals with disabilities. Key Responsibilities: Facilitate family meetings to address the emotional impact of having a family member with developmental disabilities. Support families in accessing and utilizing community and healthcare resources. Work with families to improve their overall family system, promoting healthy communication and relationships. Guide parents in managing their emotional attachment, encouraging them to allow their child to face challenges and develop independence. Provide family therapy to address emotional and relational needs. Lead social skills groups for children with ADHD, anxiety, and executive functioning challenges. Lead parent support groups focused on the challenges of raising children with special needs. Conduct risk assessments for individuals and families to ensure safety and well-being. Offer health and well-being coaching for parents and siblings, promoting resilience and self-care. Qualifications: Experience working with children with ADHD, anxiety, and executive functioning challenges. Background in social work, psychology, or family therapy preferred. Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with families and interdisciplinary teams. Interest in leading both child-focused groups and parent support groups.
