For more information, please visit https://TheLincolnCenter.comPosition Summary:The Social/Emotional Counselor will provide counseling resources and information to students, parents, and school staff; counsel students with personal and psychological issues; and address relevant issues in the school, such as social adjustment issues. The Social/Emotional Counselor will work with students in one-on-one, classroom, or school-wide sessions.Essential Functions & Responsibilities:Counseling students with personal and psychological issues that affect their performance, behavior and socialization in school● Providing counseling sessions, treatment plans, or workshops as necessary and establishing prevention programs and intervention plans● Communicating with students to determine the areas in which they may need assistance or counseling● Providing information when appropriate to outside support services to help students with economic, emotional or physical issues● Assisting at-risk students● Communicating with parents, teachers and non-instructional staff to understand students' challenges.● Maintaining case file and reports to track student progress and problems ● Helping students and families by providing community resources such as shelters, food banks and medical care.● Performs other duties as assigned.Skills:• Excellent communication and organization skills• Ability to balance administrative and support services efficientlyEducation and Experience:• Master's degree in Counseling, Psychology or Social Work preferred• Experience working with middle and secondary students a plusWork Environment:School settings"Transforming lives and communities - one moment, one choice, one connection at a time"Work Hours:This is a 43 week full-time position.Travel:Travel is occasional, such as chaperoning student class day trips.EEO Statement:TLC is committed to a policy of Equal Employment Opportunity and does not discriminate on any legally recognized basis, including, but not limited to, race, age, color, religion, sex, marital status, national origin, citizenship, ancestry, physical or mental disability, veteran status, or any other basis recognized by federal, state or local law.
