Role Overview: As a Lead Collections Representative at Suffolk Credit Union, your primary responsibility is to oversee the collections process, including supervisory oversight of other Collections Representatives. This role involves managing delinquent accounts, negotiating payment arrangements, and ensuring compliance with policies and regulations. You will also process collections notices, assist members with collection-related concerns, and provide guidance on repayment options, all while fostering positive member relationships. Success in this role requires strong communication, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills to balance the credit union's financial objectives with exceptional service to our members and effective team leadership. Key Responsibilities: Reviews and provides guidance on Collection Representatives' work related to negative accounts, restraints, bankruptcies, deceased accounts, and TruStage. Oversees daily and monthly payment postings to ensure accuracy. Assists with collection calls on negative accounts and consumer loans when necessary. Monitors various reports, including exempt funds transfers and 90-day deceased interest accruals. Reviews and correctly codes monthly bankruptcy cases in the system. Prepares and manages monthly teller audit reports, M6 letters, and charge-off data. Leads department training and is responsible for updating the procedure manual. Conducts monthly eOscar compliance reviews and manages referrals to collection agencies and attorneys. Assists AVP Collections with the HE Loss Mitigation process and other special projects. Manages monthly and quarterly reports, including the suspicious log and MasterCard analysis. Supports members with collection issues and coordinates with insurance companies and other third parties. Ensures compliance, maintains accurate records, and backs up other staff as needed, achieving at least a "Satisfactory" rating on audits. Essential Qualifications: Qualified candidates will a high school diploma or equivalency certification. One (1) to two (2) of collections experience required, preferably in a financial institution. Strong attention to detail, multitasking, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment under pressure. Preferred knowledge of restraining notices, deceased accounts, and bankruptcies. Understanding of credit union collection procedures, products, services, policies, regulations, and procedures. Proficient in Excel and Word, with intermediate mathematical skills. Skilled in handling sensitive information and providing excellent member/customer service. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with members and external parties.
