This role involves advising public school districts and other public agencies across California on a range of labor and employment matters. The successful candidate will bring expertise in public agency law and a passion for advocating on behalf of educational institutions.LocationSan Diego, CaliforniaDutiesProvide counsel on labor and employment law matters for public school districts and agenciesDraft and review employment contracts, policies, and proceduresAdvise on collective bargaining, contract grievances, and dispute resolutionHandle cases involving discrimination, retaliation, and employee misconductGuide clients through layoffs, disciplinary actions, and dismissalsConduct legal research and prepare documentation to support casesCollaborate with clients to assess needs and develop legal strategiesRequirementsJuris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law schoolActive membership in the State Bar of California and in good standingMinimum of 2 years of experience in employment law, with a preference for public agency or education lawProficiency in legal research, writing, and analysisStrong communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environmentCommitment to serving educational institutions and public agenciesEducationJuris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited institutionCertificationsLicensed to practice law in CaliforniaSkillsExpertise in labor and employment law within public sector contextsStrong advocacy skills with an understanding of public agency operationsAbility to handle sensitive employment issues with discretionDetail-oriented with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlinesBenefitsProfessional development opportunities, including mentoring programs and ongoing trainingInclusive workplace culture, with initiatives such as the Blue Hat Project for community engagementRecognition as a child-friendly business and a collaborative, supportive environment This full-service education and public agency firm maintains eight locations throughout California, serving municipal, county, and college districts as well as universities.
