Kitchen Coordinator at Carpenter's Place
KITCHEN COORDINATOR is responsible for the serving of breakfast and lunch to the guests. When volunteers bring in food and serve the meals, this staff person assists the volunteers to experience a positive time of service. This staff person is in charge of keeping the food areas clean and orderly. This staff person will share in the responsibilities of monitoring and relating to the guests in the day room and those who are assigned as kitchen interns. The ability to multi-task and work respectfully with clients is necessary. Another essential part of the position is interacting well with donors and volunteers on a daily basis. General oversite of the kitchen and instruction to on site interns is essential to make sure the program runs smoothly. If not certified in food sanitation, must be eligible to obtain the Food Sanitation Manager certification within 1 month of employment . A valid driver's license and reliable vehicle are required for work-related duties. Basic computer knowledge and the ability to lift up to 30 pounds are also fundamental to the position. Experience in food service and working in an environment that serves homeless adults dealing with addictions and mental health issues is preferred.
