The ideal candidate will bring over 7 years of experience in trademark prosecution, an entrepreneurial mindset, and a commitment to client-centered legal solutions. This role offers a collaborative work environment with flexible location options, including hybrid or remote work near one of the firm’s existing locations.Duties:Lead domestic and international trademark prosecution efforts, managing all phases of the process.Conduct trademark clearance and manage docketing, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant procedures.Collaborate directly with clients, foreign counsel, and internal departments on complex IP matters.Develop and grow a practice within the IP group, contributing to cross-departmental collaboration.Provide strategic legal advice, analyze complex legal issues, and develop solutions tailored to client needs.Draft and negotiate licensing agreements, and copyright applications, and manage enforcement matters.Offer mentorship and guidance to junior attorneys, supporting their professional development.Requirements:Minimum of 7 years of experience in a law firm or as in-house counsel, specializing in trademark prosecution.Active license with the New York State Bar (required); attorneys working remotely may need a license in the state where they reside.Demonstrated experience in managing high-value, complex IP matters independently.Proven ability to communicate effectively with clients and build a portable book of business (minimum $250,000).Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects.Education:Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.Certifications:Active admission to the New York State Bar (required).Skills:Expertise in trademark law, including clearance and prosecution processes.Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently.Excellent verbal and written communication abilities for both client interaction and internal collaboration.Demonstrated business development skills with a growth-oriented, entrepreneurial outlook.Experience in copyright applications, licensing, or litigation is advantageous.Preferred Experience:Background in technology, digital assets, or software industry clients.Experience in a managerial or leadership role.Experience as a trademark examiner with the USPTO or in an in-house counsel role.Benefits:Comprehensive benefits package, including life and disability insurance, 401(k) matching, and health insurance contributions.Flexible work hours and location options, with hybrid and remote schedules available.Support for ongoing education, networking, and professional development.Transparent communication and collaborative culture across the firm.Mentorship on technical law practice aspects and business development.This role is perfect for an IP Partner or Senior Counsel seeking a supportive and growth-oriented environment.
