Immigration Associate Attorney

The candidate will handle a wide range of immigration matters to assist with the firm's family-based, waivers, and removal-defense caseload. Primary duties involve consulting with and advising clients, representation before the Immigration Courts, preparing and submitting petitions and applications, extensive legal research and writing of declarations, motions, briefs and appeals, as well as attending USCIS interviews. Provide legal services to those seeking: primary for asylum, but when needed deportation and removal, and family-based petitions, employment-based petitions. Perform legal research and writing for motions, briefs, and appeals. Conduct legal consultations upon demonstrating comfort and skill to do so. Assess eligibility for immigration benefits. Stay abreast of immigration law and procedure updates and changes. Master the law and become a thought leader in the field. Assist in supervising legal assistants and their caseloads including conducting regular case statuses. Mentor and train legal assistants, law clerks, and interns. Review cases prepared by legal assistants before final review by supervising attorney. Attend interviews (I-130, I-485, I-751, N-400, and I-589, etc.). Perform administrative and management functions related to the practice of law. Represent the firm by participating in AILA events/AILA liaison meetings, attending advocacy events, and general community goodwill organizations that furthers the mission of the firm. Promote the firm and own knowledge and the firm's knowledge and expertise by writing articles on behalf of the firm and speaking at conferences on immigration-related topics. Help in management of the firm, as needed. Participate in business development, marketing the firm, and bringing in new business. Employment-based immigration experience is a plus. Must be a Texas Bar member and an attorney in good standing. Memberships to another State Bar will be reviewed. Fluency in English and Spanish (speak, write and read) is required.
