Construction Grade Checker Rummel Construction, Inc. is seeking experienced Grade Checkers. This is a safety sensitive position that is responsible for setting grade stakes to guide earth moving equipment operators in cut & fill, sloping, excavation, and backfilling work at residential, commercial, heavy civil, highway, and energy sites. Experience in the use of measuring instruments and hand tools are necessary. They must also have training in marking and reading survey stakes to determine grade specifications. A qualified Grade Checker must have the ability to observe, direct and control equipment excavating activities to conform to stake references and communicate with equipment operators, supervision and management. This role will support most projects in Southern Arizona (Sierra Vista, Nogales, and Tucson) About Us For more than 25 years Rummel Construction has been a leader in the heavy civil earthmoving industry in the Southwest. We recently ranked in the Top 10 Top Workplaces in Arizona 2021 come find out why! A Day In The Life Grade Checkers are vital to the successful outcome of a project. Working on the ground, they are responsible to direct operators in cut/fill operations and set grade stakes until the desired elevations are met. Without grade checkers we'd just be moving dirt from one place to another. With grade checkers, we are building streets and sidewalks and house pads, digging retentions and forming channels. Skills/Experience: Familiar with heavy equipment, Residential/Commercial Construction as well as highway vehicle traffic. 2+ years' experience performing Grade Checking. Substantial walking, bending, stooping, lifting, etc. Must be able to successfully pass a UA and Background Check. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Top Con GPS rover system is a plus.
