The Cornell Wellness part-time Fitness Professional has the responsibility of conducting all aspects of individual fitness consultations that empower the client to meet their fitness and wellbeing goals. This is done by thoroughly understanding the unique needs of the individual and creating a fitness plan that will meld with their lifestyle, health/wellbeing history, work/life situation, etc. Such consultations could be conducted at Cornell fitness facilities, alternate locations such as office space and virtually via zoom or telephone. In addition, the person in the role of Fitness Professional may be asked to offer or assist with general health and wellbeing workshops, tabling at Cornell events, large-scale wellness/wellbeing challenges, and other work and projects advancing a culture and climate of wellness and wellbeing within the Cornell Community. The person in this role needs to be available up to nineteen hours per week. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Success Factors - Expertise to create customized fitness education, recommendations, and exercise plans for clients. - Working expertise of high-quality health and exercise resources and tools. - Strong professional competency in behavior change, health promotion, the dimensions of wellbeing and chronic disease management and prevention. - Highly developed verbal and written skills and expertise to format and present verbal and written info in a clear, concise and articulate manner to a variety of diverse audiences. - Expertise to work in a collaborative, team atmosphere. - Customer service minded communication. Required background - Associates degree in fitness, exercise science/physiology or related position. - At least 1 yr background providing fitness consultations, personal training or small group fitness training. - Current certification through ACSM, ACE, NASM, NSCA, or other accredited certifying body. - CPR, 1st Aid, AED certification required.
