Position overview Faculty Position in Physical Therapy The Program in Physical Therapy at the University of Mary, Bismarck, ND is inviting applications for a full time faculty position at a rank commensurate with background beginning in summer or fall 2020. The successful applicant is expected to teach in the professional program, conduct research, supervise students in the on-campus pro bono clinic, participate in service activities (school, university, and professional), and advise prospective and graduate students. Opportunities exist for supervision of students during international service-learning experiences. Preference will be given to candidates with a terminal academic doctorate degree in physical therapy or a related discipline, degree in physical therapy, post-doctoral research background, and ability in at least 1 of the following areas: physiology, pathophysiology, research, biomechanics, orthotics/prosthetics, or cardiopulmonary. All faculty are expected to demonstrate a willingness to support and advance the Christian, Catholic, and Benedictine mission and identity of the University of Mary (see ). Program Details The eight semester program admits 48 students each fall and devotes time and attention to the professional development of its students. Unique aspects of the program include a student-driven, long-standing on-campus pro bono clinic and an international service-learning opportunity in Guatemala. In addition to a hybrid curriculum that produces outstanding clinicians, the program emphasizes leadership development and ethical decision making. There are strong collaborative relationships with the other health sciences programs allowing for rich interprofessional teaching and learning as well as a supportive medical community and alumni base. Education Requirements: Terminal academic doctoral degree (PhD, EdD, DHSc, DSc) Clinical ability related to teaching area Licensed or eligible for licensure in North Dakota Min of three years of background as a licensed physical therapist Graduate of an accredited physical therapist education program *non-PT considered if PhD in related area (foundational sciences, biomechanics, exercise physiology) Preferred Requirements: Prior teaching background in a physical therapist or physical therapist assistant education program Prior background as a clinical instructor ABPTS Specialist Certification Prior background mentoring junior faculty scholarship agendas and leading a research sequence with faculty-led student research projects Prior background with extramural research funding and graduate advising at the doctoral level.
