Entry-Level Geotechnical Engineer Requisition Number: 2024-1170-11 S&ME is looking for a motivated and passionate entry-level Geotechnical Engineer to join our Geotechnical team in Columbus, Ohio . As an entry-level Geotechnical Engineer , you are at the foundation of our subsurface exploration and drilling operations in support of the infrastructure-building phase for our clients. While working under the supervision of a Licensed Engineer, together you will provide engineering solutions and recommendations as well as support our clients in their development initiatives. This role includes performing technical geotechnical analyses, writing reports, and fieldwork. Your Day-to-Day: Field Operations Coordination: Coordinating field exploration and drilling operations. Soil Sample Collection and Logging: Collecting and logging soil samples from the field. Soil Testing and Analysis: Testing, analyzing, evaluating, and performing calculations to evaluate the behavior of the subsurface conditions relative to development. Report Preparation: Preparing written reports with findings and geotechnical opinions, conclusions, and recommendations. What You Bring: A Bachelor's degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering, Mining, or a related engineering field 0-2 years of professional experience An Engineer in Training (EIT) license, a plus Excellent computer skills including at a minimum, Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, AutoCAD Working Conditions and Physical Demands: You are willing and able to perform the physical demands of this position with the use of Company-provided Personal Protective Equipment: Working outdoors in varying weather conditions outside normal business hours, as needed Walking over rough and uneven terrain, maneuvering field equipment safely, such as a loaded wheelbarrow Routinely lifting and carrying 40-50lbs, (field/laboratory samples and equipment) Traveling out-of-town and possibly overnight for assignments as needed We Are S&ME: At S&ME, we've spent over 50 years providing innovative solutions in geotechnical, civil, environmental, and construction materials disciplines.
