English Language Acquisition (ESL) Adjunct InstructorVaries between campuses Part-time Adjunct FacultyHybrid Option: No Waubonsee Community College promotes diversity in faculty, staff, and student recruitment and is committed to hiring and retaining exceptional faculty and staff who are committed to the college's culture of collaboration, professional growth and student success.Teach English Language Acquisition (ESL) classes that range from Low Beginning to Advanced. Classes are designed to assist students in developing the English Language skills necessary to achieve their social and professional needs. Instructors will provide educational activities within the scope of a developed curriculum that assists students in achieving their goals. The use of multiple teaching strategies to serve the diverse needs of adult learners is expected. English Language Acquisition (ESL) classes typically meet face to face 2 days per week in the evening from 6pm to 9pm or in the morning from 9am to 12pm. All instruction is in-person at multiple locations throughout the district. Spring classes begin January 21st, 2025.Responsibilities:Deliver instruction and conduct assigned classesPrepare lessons and syllabus based on approved curriculum and syllabus templateEnsure student enrollment, attendance, and grades are submitted in a timely mannerWork with Transition Advisors to insure student persistence and transitionComplete New Teacher OrientationFulfill State mandated 12 hours of Adult Education Professional Development per fiscal yearMinimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in Education, English, or related fieldStrong technology skillsExperience working with diverse non-traditional Adult LearnersDesire to help change livesPreferred Qualifications:Master's degree in Adult Education or related fieldTESOL CertificationICCB Adult Education Standards Certification or STAR (Reading Specialist) trainingUnderstanding of Canvas, DAISI, Burlington English, IXL, or CASAS Academy a plusPlease attach the following documents when applying: 1 Cover Letter-Yes 2 Resume-Yes 3 References-No (Can be provided at interview) 4 Unofficial Transcripts-Yes (Official will be required if hired)Position Detailsreq1863Grant Funded: Yes, Hourly Rate- 60-65/hrWork Schedule: Spring Semester 2 days per week in the evening from 6pm to 9pm or in the morning from 9am to 12pm.Testing: No Targeted Hire Date: 12/9/2024Special Instructions: Please attach all required items at time of application.
