Summary This position has primary responsibility for assisting with the management, production and implementation of Spire’s employee communications initiatives, as well as engagement activities targeted for employees of Spire, including all subsidiaries and business units. Duties and Responsibilities Provide various departments with internal communications support, such as drafting letters, news articles and company emails, and overseeing the creation of print and digital materials to help internal partners meet their objectives. Maintain the Spire intranet (inSpire) and ensure content is current. Manage content for weekly e-newsletter, The Source. Maintain editorial calendars with deadlines and priorities. Enterprise story ideas, gather background information and write content ranging from features about employees and charity work to earnings information and business processes. Identify topics for and assist with internal videos and podcasts featuring employees; offer assistance scripting and crafting questions, conducting interviews and making participating employees comfortable. Establish and actively maintain positive formal and informal relationships with Spire employees across the entire company, inspiring dialog across and among all employee groups. Support development and implementation of comprehensive internal communications strategy Assist with the development, planning, promotion and implementation of engagement programs for all Spire employees, including employee outings and events, employee meetings and more. Help create and execute events that align corporate strategies with employee experience including corporate-wide, all-employee meetings, employee tours and more. Align all strategy, content, voice and messaging with Spire’s mission and brand. Essential Characteristics and Competencies Outstanding written, grammar and oral communication skills, with a strong proficiency in AP/journalistic style. Strong ability to grasp new concepts, strategies and initiatives. Strong ethics and integrity, dedication to a safe work environment, commitment to a diverse workforce. Employee focus, results-driven, teamwork, communications, adaptability, quality, initiative, problem-solving and analysis. Self-motivated; ability to work independently. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and social media. Experience with posting information to a company intranet. Strong listening and problem-solving skills. Ability to meet deadlines and multi-task. Natural curiosity to help inform communications efforts. Friendly, approachable and desire to meet new people. Required Education (certifications, licenses) Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, business or related field Required knowledge, skill and abilities Minimum of 3-5 years of experience, with an emphasis on writing, in a variety of communications areas, such as employee communications, media relations, journalism, advertising, marketing, etc. Strong written communications skills Experience in project management Demonstrated experience in building and nurturing positive, collaborative relationships Physical demands, environment and schedule Work is performed in a shared office environment at Spire’s headquarters, collaborating with multiple business locations across the country Up to 15 percent travel required to other Spire offices and employee locations Competencies We Advance We Care We Collaborate We Have Perspective Posting Requirements Disclaimer: The above statements are intended to describe the general nature of the level of work being performed by people assigned to this classification.
