This role involves working on complex benefits matters, providing legal counsel on retirement and compensation plans, and advising clients on compliance and transaction-related aspects within employee benefits law.Duties:Design, draft, amend, and oversee the administration and governance of qualified retirement plans under various codes, including § 401(a), 403(b), and 457(b)Collaborate with clients to address documentary, administrative, and fiduciary issues in retirement, health, welfare plans, and executive compensation arrangementsSupport clients through corporate transactions, including benefits and compensation aspects related to restructurings, reductions-in-force, and change-in-control scenariosDevelop, document, and manage ERISA health and welfare plan materials and summary plan descriptionsProvide legal advice on trust law issues associated with multiemployer plans and assess multiemployer pension plan withdrawal liabilityCounsel clients on employment-related documents and 409A compliance mattersConduct due diligence and review Merger Acquisition documents for ERISA-related considerationsOffer insights on non-qualified deferred compensation arrangements, including Codes §§ 409A, 457, and 280GDemonstrate a commitment to client service with strong ethical practices and ownership of assigned projectsRequirements:10+ years of experience in employee benefits law, particularly in areas involving qualified and non-qualified retirement plansProficiency in handling ERISA, multiemployer plans, and compliance-related tasksStrong analytical, legal research, and writing skills with the ability to communicate complex information effectivelyDemonstrated client service ethics and experience working both independently and collaboratively in a team environmentEducation:Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law schoolCertifications:Admission to the Bar in Oregon.Skills:Exceptional project management skills and ability to handle multiple tasks with a high degree of independenceProficiency in ERISA compliance, retirement plan governance, and multiemployer plan managementStrong legal drafting, analytical, and research abilitiesExcellent interpersonal communication skills with a client-focused approachJob Location:Bend, OR Representing a wide range of businesses, with offices in California, Oregon, Washington, Alaska, and California, this is one of the largest firms, specializing in bankruptcy, business and corporate, employment, environment, intellectual property, Native American law, real estate, privacy and data security, tax and estate planning, dispute resolution, and litigation.
