EMC Engineering Intern

OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES: Learn to perform EMC tests with supervision per the requirements detailed in national and international regulatory standards and test procedures in a laboratory environment. Full-time exempt position for TÜV SÜD Product Service Division. This position is an onsite position. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS : Interpret an EMC Test Plan. Set up of basic RF Emissions Tests. Set up of basic RF Immunity Tests. Electrostatic Discharge Testing Learn Basic Electrical Transient Tests. Trouble shoot RF test systems. Setup, configure and validate customer projects and equipment to prepare them for testing. Learn how to set up and operate common EMC lab equipment including, but not limited to: Oscilloscopes, RF Signal Generation devices, RF Receivers & Spectrum Analyzers, Function Generators, RF Power Meters, Voltmeters, Fiber Optic Remote Monitoring Systems. EDUCATION: High School Diploma, or equivalent experience EXPERIENCE: Working knowledge of and proficiency in the use of most MS Office 365 applications including MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Accurate, clear, and timely communication of information, upward and lateral, including verbal, written and listening skills. Customer focused, possess good communications skills, work well in a team environment, take direction positively, and contribute to the group. Self-directed, improvement minded, and an ability to adapt to changing circumstances. Communicate in a courteous and effective manner with internal and external customers. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment. Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills. Self-starter with a positive outlook and motivated attitude. Ability to plan and organize giving attention to detail and follow-through. Has reliable judgment that is consistent, adaptable to unusual situations, and realistic. Must have a common-sense approach to solving problems. Willingness to consider other’s ideas and to work with others.
