If you are committed to supporting the health and strength of the community, and want to be a part of an engaged workplace, we'd love to work with you!Denver Human Services is currently seeking a passionate and detail-oriented individual to serve as the Eligibility Specialist for the Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP) team within the Family and Adult Assistance Division (FAAD). As an Eligibility Specialist, you will be considered a subject matter expert in in Childcare assistance program rules, childcare assistance eligibility and in-depth familiarity utilizing the Childcare Automated Tracking System (CHATS). The CCAP Eligibility Specialist must:Understand leadership and embrace changeBe able to work independently with minimal supervisionBe comfortable using the Childcare Automated Tracking System (CHATS)Be proficient with system interfacesShow understanding, courtesy, tact, empathy and concernDevelop and maintain working relationships while encouraging cooperation, pride and a commitment to teamworkBe sensitive to cultural diversity, race, gender and other individual differences in the workforceHave a proven track-record of successAdditionally, the CCAP Eligibility Specialist:Acts as an eligibility determination subject matter expert for the total array of programs and services available to clients and serves as a resource to eligibility staff by assisting staff with difficult/complex cases, formulating approaches to address issues/problems, and briefing supervisors/managers on reoccurring concerns and issuesLiaison between:Provider community and the program side of CCAP (answers all questions (via phone and email) from providers regarding authorizations and billingThe Provider Payment Services Team (PPST) and the program side of CCAP (attends meetings, creates and monitors provider referrals)Child Welfare CCAP and the program side of CCAP (attend meetings, provides CHATS and policy training)Attends all outreach/community events (DECC, Rocky Mt. Ser, Mile High, Warren Village, etc.)Conducts CCAP trainings as requested by the community membersServes as a community resource specialist for clients and refers clients to internal and/or external services and services providersIs the primary county representative at state testing for system changes and brings the information back to the team for trainingProvides technical support to the team, in harmony with the CCAP Lead, on all things related to CHATSDetermines initial and on-going eligibility for public assistance programs in accordance with federal, state, and county rules and regulations, approves and issues benefits, and facilitates entry into community based programsRecords client information, enters and updates information into complex state and county computer systems, and to inquiries about case records for administrative state hearings, federal reviews, fraud investigations, and federal and state program management and evaluationMonitors changes in client's status, contacts clients to verify changes, and makes appropriate adjustments to eligibility and support paymentsAssists clients in application for public assistance programs and determines appropriate services/programs to meet the needs of clients by conducting eligibility interviews, researching and evaluating all necessary information such as family members and relationships, financial status, and income resourcesPerforms other related duties as assignedAbout YouOur ideal candidate will have:At least 2 years of professional level experience and knowledge working with childcare rules and regulationsAt least 2 years of professional level experience and knowledge working with the Childcare Automated Tracking System (CHATS)At least 2 years of professional level experience and knowledge working with the Colorado Benefit Management System (CBMS)Proficiency with Microsoft Word and OutlookExperience with TANF referrals, Child welfare, Child care, Changes and Redetermination processesWe realize your time is valuable so please do not apply if you do not have at least the following required minimum qualifications:Education Requirement: Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC CertificateExperience Requirement: Four (4) years of experience determining eligibility for a variety of public assistance programsEducation & Experience Equivalency Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirementsAbout Everything ElseJob ProfileCA2666 Eligibility SpecialistTo view the full job profile including position specifications, physical demands, and probationary period, click here.Position TypeUnlimitedPosition Salary Range$21.28 - $31.92Starting PayAlthough our full pay range is listed above, the budgeted hiring range for this position will most likely be between $21.28 - $26.60/per hour, based on education and experienceAgencyDenver Human ServicesThe City and County of Denver provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, genetic information, age, or any other status protected under federal, state, and/or local law.
