SUMMARY The Director of Programs and Partnerships directs the Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy (SUDEP) program, self-management programs, and relevant partnerships for the Epilepsy Foundation (EF) using public health best practices. The Director will provide bereavement support, guidance, and leadership for the SUDEP program across the Affiliate Network. The Director will establish and maintain strategic national partnerships to support program recognition, expansion, and collaborations. The Director will conduct presentations to external organizations to create public and professional awareness of programs and promote the work of the Foundation and its mission. This position reports to the Vice President of Programs and Training. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES SUDEP Provides bereavement support through consulting referrals, client interviews, and guidance to EF's Affiliate Network. Develops a framework for SUDEP Bereavement expansion across EF's Affiliate Network and ongoing support to affiliates offering bereavement services. Facilitates sessions with individuals and/or groups of family members and caregivers and involves other professionals and community support groups when required. Responsible for managing and executing contracts with SUDEP support group facilitators. Self-Management Implements goals for epilepsy self-management-related activities of the Foundation. Grows the Foundation’s self-management programs, including increasing the number of people accessing self-management programs and providers trained in self-management programs nationwide. Develops public awareness campaigns with the communications team related to wellness-targeted issues. Collaborates with organizations concerned with epilepsy self-management, wellness, and behavioral health related to the Foundation’s activities and initiatives based on industry trends, developments, and best practices. Partnerships Conducts national and local outreach through presentations and conference workshops to promote assigned programs and initiatives. Manages national partnerships to support program outreach and expansion. Identifies potential funding sources and develops and monitors program budget. ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Collects and analyzes data and generates reports for projects as needed to assess success, challenges, and future activities. Works independently on a variety of diverse tasks with minimal supervision. Performs other duties and special projects, as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS Education: Bachelor's degree required. An advanced degree in communications, medical, nursing, public health, social work/social services, , or an equivalent area is strongly preferred. Experience may be substituted for an advanced degree. Experience: At least six years of experience in project oversight, management and implementation, health education and promotion, writing and oral communication, and advocacy. Nonprofit or foundation experience is a plus. Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Project, Salesforce, and database tools preferred. Knowledge: Public health program development best practices. Social marketing theory related to diverse audiences. Effective principles and practices of program management and program evaluation. Bereavement experience or similar experience related to knowledge of the psychology of loss and the stages of grief. Leadership: Proven ability to lead and direct programs. Analytical Skills: Strong analytical abilities for interpreting data and presenting insights. Communication: Communicate, orally and in writing, with a variety of people including service providers, individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds, and those with disabilities TRAVEL, WORK ENVIRONMENT, AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS Full-time position. Remote. Some evening or weekend work may be necessary for programmatic needs. Travel is expected and required for business events.
