Responsibilities The Acquisition Analysis and Info Department (AAID) leverages data science and machine learning to enhance the systems engineering and acquisition planning/execution functions employed by various customers. The department collects and/or processes programmatic/technical space enterprise info to distill analytic insight; enable process efficacy for capabilities such as anomaly and issue tracking, forecasting, and risk assessments; and discover innovative approaches to enhance acquisition decision making and program efficiency. Essential functions: Provide vision and direction for programmatic and acquisition decision support data science function Lead multidisciplinary efforts to techniques to leverage data from different programmatic domains and programs, to help customers make well-informed programmatic decisions Understand and implement Corporate Strategic goals as they related to department mission areas Manage resources within defined budgets and schedules to satisfy customer needs Customer Outreach Continuously communicate/leverage department capabilities to build and maintain a broad customer base with national security, civil, and commercial customers Enhanced collaboration with related Aerospace needs across the subdivision and corporation Staffing & Development Recruit, train, mentor, and manage staff to support department functions Provide leadership, direction, and development of staff Coordinate staffing, tasking, and priorities and strive to ensure adequate resource support to AAID customers Tools, Methods, and Techniques Develop, manage and/or maintain tools (datasets/inventories, models, etc) Provide technical ability, controls, and leadership to assure the quality of studies and analysis products Corporate steward of the Acquisition Support and Systems Engineering Toolset (ASSET) This position is located in El Segundo, CA and some travel is required. Requirements Required Graduate degree in engineering, computer science, applied mathematics, or related position Min of twelve (12) years of technical experience after a bachelor’s degree Prior project leadership, management, acquisition and systems engineering and/or program office experience Demonstrated experience to establish and maintain effective working relationships including all levels of customers, coworkers, and contractors Good people skills and commitment to personnel management, especially mentoring and career guidance; Problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify, organize, prioritize, and ensure timely completion of tasks is required Demonstrated initiative and ability to identify and apply creative solutions to a broad range of issues in a rapidly changing national space systems environment to include a vision and passion about data and its possibilities Ability to foster internal and external collaboration to share knowledge and create synergies Excellent oral and written correspondence skills Current SSBI clearance Preferred Strong experience in research and innovation to include experience working with innovators Experience in leading and managing a diverse team of data scientists, developers, analysts, support and remote personnel Experience on corporate teams and/or involvement in ongoing corporate initiatives Transcript Requirement None Additional Requisition Details System Position title : DIRECTOR Clearance Requirement: TS/SSBI Access: SCI Polygraph: None Relocation Available: Yes Employment Type: Regular Work Schedule: Full-time Company Statement The Aerospace Corporation has provided independent technical and scientific research, development, and advisory services to national security space programs since 1960.
