J ob Title: Custodian/Care Giver Department: Adult Day Care Reports To: Program Director Keeps ADC building and yard in clean and orderly condition at all times. Provides comprehensive individualized care and assistant to ADC participants. Assist participants in daily program activities and field trips. Transport participants to and from their residences on field trip activities. This job description is illustrative only of the responsibilities performed by this position and is not all inclusive ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Sweeps, mops scrubs, and vacuums. Empties inside trash containers daily; empties outside garbage containers weekly. Refills toilet paper, paper towels and hand soap daily. Wash toilet stalls every other day. Maintains area outside of building, including cleaning snow and debris from sidewalk. Moves furniture and hauls equipment as necessary. Repairs minor damages to walls, doors, floors and ceilings. Washes windows. Lock and closes building in the evening, ensures all appliances, lights, air conditioning or heater are turned off. Cleans vehicles as assigned. On occasion may be assigned to assist monitoring and activities for ADC Clients. On occasion may be assigned to transport assigned clients to ADC facility, home, activities, etc. Will assist with daily needed tasks to meet the needs of the Adult Day Care requirements. Contributes to a team effort by accomplishing related results as required. Perform all other duties relevant duties as assigned. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Capacity to operate and repair cleaning machinery. Must be positive and respectful to elderly clients. Must be an effective team player and set a good example for others. Record keeping and effective documentation skills required. Knowledge of Pueblo elder needs, customs, and traditions, preferred. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High School diploma, GED. Must have relevant experience working directly with the elderly. Must have a valid New Mexico Driver's License and be insurable for liability purposes. Must undergo and pass Background Screening. First Aid/CPR Certifies highly desirable. Must have a valid New Mexico Driver's License with no DWI/ DUI convictions from any Tribal, State, or Federal Court within a five (5) year timeframe and must be insurable under the Tribe's Insurance Carrier. Must be able to pass a background check. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT AND WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employees frequently is required to stand; walk; use hand to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, and taste or smell. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
