Charge the feed hoppers, maintain the correct levels of refuse fuel in the boiler hoppers, mix and level refuse in the pit and observe the tipping of delivery trucks for unacceptable and hazardous waste. Perform routine inspections of the overhead cranes, grapples to ensure the integrity of the equipment. Perform routine house keeping duties as assigned. Cross train to be able to operate the front end loader Assist with the duties of loader operator and ash loader operator Participate in boiler cleanings Train to become qualified as a Utility Operator Perform other duties as directed by the Shift Supervisor. Previous background in the operation of heavy industrial machinery, or demonstrated mechanical aptitude. Formal technical or apprentice training is desirable, or equivalent combination of education and background. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Expertise to read and interpret documents such as rules, technical procedures, operating and maintenance instructions, and other procedure manuals. Expertise to speak and communicate effectively with supervisors and other employees of the organization. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Expertise to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. REASONING EXPERTISE: Expertise to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:None OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: Expertise to take appropriate safe action on his/her own initiative to prevent equipment damage or injury to personnel during emergencies or unusual situations.
