Position Overview: This is a project-based position. This role will ensure that written content is accurate, clear, and consistent, and that it adheres to style guides and industry standards. Genre: Historical Fiction Word count approx. 130,000 Responsibilities: Editing: Correct spelling, grammar, and punctuation errors. They may also propose restructuri n g of copy to improve clarity and flow Applying style: Ensure that the content matches the style guide for the publication and company – Chicago Manual of Style. Work directly with the Corporate Project Coordinator/Associate Publisher Qualifications: Background in military affiliated titles a plus Background in LGBTQ titles a plus Able to add comments and track changes within Microsoft Word Effective and efficient communication skills Able to meet and adhere to timelines and deadlines Preferred: Would be nice to see in Editorial Freelancers Association, Northwest Editors Guild or the like Carry ‘Errors and Omissions’ Insurance Coverage Other: Candidates will be requested to do a sample page as part of the interview process.
