CONSULTANT, YOUTH SUBSTANCE & RECOVERY INITIATIVES Unit: Programs Department: Youth Services Reports to: Director, Community Engagement & Programs Classifications: Exempt, up to 20 hours per week; TEMPORARY POSITION thru June 30, 2025 Essential Functions: % Time Role Description 45 % Coalition Coordination & Administration [E.Y.E.S. Coalition] The Coalition Coordinator will be responsible for the day-to-day management of program goals, objectives and activities. The Coalition Coordinator will work collaboratively with the coalition to maximize participation and accomplishments. In addition to coordinating strategies, coalition initiatives and meetings the individual will be responsible for: Coordinate outreach and facilitation of the E.Y.E.S. [Engaging Youth Engaging in Substances] Coalition Program including: a. Marketing of the program with recruitment to increase coalition members and participation b. Develop agenda items and guest speakers c. Record and maintain attendance records, meeting minutes, and other data reporting to satisfy contract deliverables. d. Maintain ongoing progress reports and submit through monthly and annual reports. e. Coordinate sector partners for events and prevention initiatives. f. Represent the EYEYS Coalition at local community, county and state meetings. g. Provide logistic support for assessments, trainings, and other coalition strategies. h. Compile data and monthly reports describing coalition efforts, initiatives, and outreach. i. Attend to other required duties in achieving and maintaining a successful coalition. Specific activities required to fulfill this consultancy include: · Coordinate and facilitate monthly coalition meetings · Disseminate and analyze Youth Substance Use Community Assessment · Completion of quarterly contractual action plan and report submission · Ongoing youth engagement and interaction in substance use prevention and recovery activities 45% Youth-based Substance Use Prevention Program [Youth Voices Matter] This youth-centered substance use prevention and recovery initative works with youth by providing prevention education, learning experiences, and skill-building activities about substance use, recovery, and other high-risk activities; empowering youth to meet life's challenges. · Support with the development of recovery-based supported services and activities at HMI · Develop and deliver at least one (1) youth-specific training focused on substance use, misuse, and recovery · Develop a minimum of two (2) community-level youth recovery events/activities · Work with contract partners to participate and present at the annual Recovery Conference (October) · Assist contract partners in delivering (2) YVM-based trainings · Host one (1) advocacy-oriented event · Assist in the planning and/or presenting, and attending FOR-NY/YVM statewide events · Recruit and support youth to serve on a statewide advisory committee · Monthly administrative support based on contract requirements, including newsletter entries, meeting attendance, reporting narratives, and voucher submissions 10 % Travel Up to 10% travel locally and within the state of NY specific to job deliverables may be required for this position. Travel may be related to: a. Present at local, regional or national conferences on behalf of HMI. b. Accepting awards and recognition on behalf of HMI. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required: Bachelor degree in public health or public administration, social work, education, or other related human services Specific experience with coalition building, community engagement, and community mobilization. Extensive knowledge and understanding of substance use, recovery, and harm reduction At least two years experience with diverse youth populations in an urban setting, including LGBTQIA+ youth from various cultures, intersections, and Experience facilitating group discussions and managing a variety of small and large group Knowledge of trauma-informed care, liberation healing, and positive youth development Excellent verbal and written communication and organizational Ability to exercise independent judgment when appropriate; strong decision-making Computer Skills: Strong with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Working Conditions: Work primarily in 2 Astor Place, NYC, except for community engagement Work schedule: General HMI hours are Monday - Friday, 10:00-6:00pm (administrative) or 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm (youth- serving programs); flexibility is required to support programmatic needs of the Job Posted by ApplicantPro
