Position overview Job Summary Under the direct guidance of the Teacher and under the supervision of the Site Coordinator ists in providing a comprehensive learning environment for preschool children, performs teacher responsibilities in teacher’s absence, and supports and ists in meeting the Federal Performance Standards 45 CFR 1304 and any additional standard referring to classroom or child activity. Essential Job Functions · Attend pre-service, in-service, staff meetings, conferences, training sessions, and workshops as required by DHS Licensing, Federal Performance Standards or as igned by the Head Start Director. · ists with the implementation of the education content as indicated by the Performance Standards, program essment, and program written plans. · Collaborate closely with the teacher in all aspects of the program such as lesson planning, individualization, home visits, and parent meetings. · Establish a positive classroom climate by engaging in respectful interactions with children and families; building relationships with individual children; helping children build relationships with each other; using appropriate child guidance techniques; sharing in children’s classroom activities; showing enthusiasm and encouragement; using appropriate verbal and physical affection; outlining positive expectations; following the children’s lead and incorporating their ideas; giving clear instructions; asking open ended questions; providing real-world applications to studies in the classroom; providing a print and language rich environment in the classroom; showing sensitivity to children’s feelings and points of view; and providing opportunities for children to express their emotions appropriately through art, music, movement, dramatic play, storytelling, and talking with caring adults. · Ensure classroom compliance based upon Performance Standards, Oklahoma Child Care Licensing Standards, and all other related standards by incorporating results of tools such as CLASS, ERS, and Fidelity Tool and participating in weekly planning meetings. · Demonstrate competency in planning and implementing learning experiences that advance the intellectual and physical development of children, including improving the readiness of children for school by developing their literacy, phonemic, and print awareness, their understanding and use of language, their understanding and use of increasingly complex and varied vocabulary, their appreciation of books, their understanding of early math and early science, their problem-solving abilities, and their approaches to learning. · Establish and maintain safe, healthy learning environments; support the social and emotional development of children; and encourage the involvement of the families of the children in the program and support the development of relationships between children and their families. · Be familiar with the specific goals in the Head Start Child Development and Early Learning Framework, state Early Learning Guidelines, and Local Education Agency (LEA) expectations and ensure curriculum-targeted skills and knowledge address (align with) established goals. · ist in analyzing individual, ongoing, child-level essment data from a variety of sources for all children participating in the program, and using that data in combination with input from parents and families to determine each child’s status and progress with regard to, at a min, language and literacy, cognition, approaches toward learning, perceptual, motor and physical development, and social and emotional development to individualize the experiences, teaching, and services to best support each child. · ist in essing child progress on an ongoing basis and aggregate and analyze data at least 3 times as designated throughout the year and use that data in combination with other program data to determine progress toward meeting program goals, to inform parents of the results, and to direct continuous improvement related to curriculum, instruction, professional development, program design, and other program decisions. · ists in the completion of all documentation required of each classroom to maintain licensing standards prescribed by DHS and Head Start Performance Standards; keep current and accurate records. · Work with children with disabilities and/or children whose developmental age or stage of development may be delayed. · Attend to and/or clean children with personal hygiene issues including soiled clothing in a timely manner. · Operate and maintain appearance of the classroom and center in general. · ist with 3 parent/teacher conferences in the center and at least 2 home visits to share child’s progress and gain input on the educational program from respective parents as igned. · Completes teacher responsibilities in absence of the Teacher. · Participate as a member of the class-based team and work cooperatively with all center/program staff and volunteers. · Record and submit non-federal share match (in-kind) weekly for monthly reporting. · Perform Bus Monitor duties on a monthly basis. · Maintain congenial and respectful relations with staff, children, families, and community. · Maintain objectives and professional standards; must be a reliable employee with attendance, timeliness, and attitude to provide a positive and consistent relationship with the children and families served. · Demonstrate commitment to mission, vision, and values in the performance of daily routines; model appropriate behavior; and provide direction to volunteers, substitutes, and floaters as needed. · Maintain confidentiality in regards to staff and family details. · Be a contributory team player in a positive and productive manner. · Fulfill role as mandated reporter as stated in Child Abuse and Neglect Policy. · Commits to always act in the best interest of the agency. · Presents a welcoming environment to the people we serve. · Must complete all mandatory and required trainings, on-time, upon orientation and annually thereafter. · Performs other program-related ignments as designated by _______________ (Site Coordinator). Requirements · Min of ociates Degree in Early Childhood or related position preferred. · Background working with young children and Head Start preferred. · A Preschool Child Development ociate (CDA) credential must be obtained within the 1st 6 mons of employment; enrollment in an ociate or baccalaureate degree in early childhood or child development program is encouraged. · Co-Teachers igned to public school sites must also meet the following Paraprofessional requirements: - High-school diploma or a General Educational Development (GED) diploma - PLUS Option A: Hold an ociate's (or higher) degree; or Option B: Completed at least 2yrs (48 credit hours) of study at an institution of higher education; or Option C: Passed the Oklahoma Commission for Teacher Preparation General Education (OGET) Test; or Option D: Pass the Education Testing Service (ETS) Parapro essment Test (Passing score is 455) or the WorkKeys® essment. · All co-teachers will be required to take the Education Testing Service (ETS) Parapro essment Test (passing score is 455) within the 1st 3 mons of hire. · Must be able to stoop, bend, crawl, stretch, lift and/or carry children up to fifty pounds. · Must be able to drive a private or agency vehicle and possess a valid driver’s license, current vehicle insurance and pass a MVR.
