Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree in clinical laboratory science, medical technology or related field with 12 months of experience in Medical Laboratory or related field; License issued by the State of California, limited license appropriate for the area of responsibility, or an International Medical Laboratory Scientist Certification by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP). Job Description:- Specimen Collection and Processing: Collect various types of biological specimens such as blood, urine, tissue samples and body fluids from patients according to protocol. Perform proper specimen collection, labeling, handling, preservation or fixation, processing or preparation, transportation and storage. Adhere to Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other patient confidentiality guidelines and regulations.- Laboratory Testing: Perform laboratory tests using automated analyzers, manual techniques and specialized equipment.- Quality Control and Assurance: Perform and document quality control procedures to ensure the accuracy and reliability of laboratory test results. Monitor instrument performance, troubleshoot technical issues. Identify and resolve unusual laboratory situations and notify appropriate parties.- Data Analysis: Analyze laboratory results, interpret finds, and correlate abnormal findings.- Instrument Maintenance and Calibration: Perform routine maintenance, calibration and troubleshooting of laboratory instruments and equipment to ensure optimal performance and accuracy.- General support functions necessary for the routine operation of the laboratory.
