Position details TITLE: Clinical Director of Counseling REPORTS TO: Dean of Students REQUIREMENTS: The Clinical Director of Counseling must be a licensed mental health counselor in the state of New York and have a minimum of an earned Masters Degree in Counselor Education, Psychology, Rehabilitation Counseling, Social Work, or similar area, as well as five years post graduate experience. The ideal candidate will be a credentialed alcoholism and substance abuse counselor. The Clinical Director must be skilled and experienced in conflict resolution and crisis management, multi-task, and be able to provide excellent case management, scheduling of counseling staff for committees and special projects. The ideal candidate will also have experience working with the college population at a small, liberal arts institution. RESPONSIBILITIES: The Clinical Director of Counseling is responsible for the overall management and supervision of the counseling services offered at Daemen College and as such, provides leadership and guidance to the part time, contracted staff. The Clinical Director is a senior member of the Student Affairs team, is a member of the Campus Care Team, and serves on various campus wide committees. The perfect applicant will have excellent oral and verbal communications skills. They will work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students, and will be responsible for responding to mental health crises and emergencies. BENEFITS: This is a full-time, 12-month position. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: Coordinate clinical direction and support to the CHIP Center Support the programmatic initiatives of the Wildcat Wellness Committee that enhance the mission of the College. Work collaboratively with the Dean of Students to formulate and administer counseling policies and procedures, including updates based on emerging legislation. Maintain and schedule coverage for the counseling offices including individual and group sessions as well as campus trainings. Provide counseling services to students including individual, group, couples, crisis intervention, and other formats based on student need. Provide backssment and evaluation of students. Select, train, and supervise counseling services staff including conducting regular staff meetings, maintaining regular communication and consultation specifically regarding students of concern. Will work collaboratively with the Dean of Students, counseling services staff, and other campus offices to explore ways to best serve the needs of students. Review all mental health related CARE reports and follow up accordingly. Develop a budget for the counseling arm of the CHIP Center; create proposals for new initiatives and needs of the campus. Maintains counseling records and confidentiality within the confines of best practices and the ethical obligations of the field. Coordinate the counselors in the CHIP Center and the Mental Health Response Group as part of the campus emergency response. Coordinate the schedule and serve in the emergency on-call rotation for counselors Work with colleagues in Student Affairs and other areas of the college on programming, compliance, and related activities. Establish counseling services as a campus resource by building relationships between campus constituencies and counselors regarding student concerns. Participate in Student Development meetings, in-services, and other activities. Assist in the planning and backssment process as dictated by the College. Develop and provide reports to support campus backssment and annual reporting needs. Other duties as assigned. This is a full-time position.
