Description:
This position will serve as a supplemental worker to the CFS - Drilling Services organization in support of various environmental / geotechnical drilling projects, expressly for the maintenance and installation of instrumentation linked to groundwater and surface water monitoring. Specific instrumentation required to maintain will include but not limited to, Troll 500 and 400 Pressure Transducers, In-Situ VuLinks, Solar Panels, Dataloggers, Automated Slope Inclinometers, various Campbell Scientific, Geokon, and YSI/Xylem Equipment, etc.This position is a field position and interested candidates should be comfortable working outdoors, year-round, and in inclement weather. Work will mainly involve the development, maintenance and installation of groundwater and surface water sampling instrumentation to support CCR and Dam Safety projects, and the oversight of contractors for the same.This position will require a minimum 10-hour day, 4 days per week (Monday-Thursday), some weekends and multiple days of travel throughout the southeastern United States on a weekly basis. High mechanical aptitude and good troubleshooting skills are a must for this position. Candidates with a 4-year degree in chemistry, environmental biology, physical science, or similar concentration are desired. Successful candidates will be expected to: Collect, measure and record field data for surface and groundwater samples for possible laboratory analysis Calibrate, maintain, and use water quality monitoring equipment for pH, ORP, DO, turbidity, conductivity & temperature measurements, etc. Collect water level measurements from groundwater monitoring wells and piezometers using a handheld meter Proficient in performing slug testing (rising/falling head tests) on groundwater monitoring wells Develop newly installed groundwater monitoring wells and piezometers using various types of pumps and equipment Provide oversight to external contractors in support of various environmental and geotechnical drilling projects Must have the aptitude to troubleshoot and maintain instrumentation in support of groundwater, surface water and the transmission of data to iCloud servers Operate UTVs, off-road vehicles and pull and back trailers Behavioral Attributes Must understand the importance of placing safety as the top priority Strong teambuilding and interpersonal skills required Detailed note taking, and documentation required Attention to detail and ability to follow process and procedures required Strong communication skills necessary Ability to work outside in physically demanding, hot and cold conditions Overnight travel is required (typically 3-4 nights every week) Must be able to work a flexible schedule with non-traditional hours with limited to no supervision Powered by JazzHR
