Minneapolis Public Schools is seeking creative and motivated individuals to join our Minneapolis Kids before and after elementary school program! Child Care Assistants provide a fun, safe, educational, and recreational experience for our students. No previous child care experience is required for this role - this position would be ideal for someone looking to start a career in child care. Job responsibilities: Assist program coordinators in facilitating enrichment choice-based programs and activities with students Assist with attendance, work assignments, administrative duties, classroom preparation and cleanup, and behavior management Communicate with parents and guardians to answer questions, communicate updates, and explain program rules Maintain inventory of meals and snacks, classroom supplies, and recreational materials Promote positive behavior and respect from all students and escalate concerns or behavioral issues when necessary Pay & Schedule: Competitive pay starting at $18.75/hour with the opportunity for a higher rate depending on experience Full-time (30 hours per week) shifts available with variable hours between 6:30 am and 6:00 pm Monday through Friday only, no weekends Benefits: Full benefits for employees working 20+ hours per week, including health and dental Generous holiday and paid time off package Professional development opportunities Qualifications: High School Diploma/GED Experience working with children preferred but not required Must enjoy working with children and be comfortable working with children with special needs At Minneapolis Public Schools, we are passionate about putting children first and we believe our staff play a crucial role in our success.
