To be considered, please apply directly at our web siteusing the following link: https://workforcenow.adp.com/mascsr/default/mdf/recruitment/recruitment.html?cid=bfba3fa2-ab09-4f04-807d-dc7f5d631938&ccId=19000101_000001&jobId=290745&source=CC3&lang=en_US Position title: Child Development Specialist Department: Early Learning Quality Advancement Reports To: Child Development Project Manager FLSA Status: Exempt Responsible for planning, developing, delivering, and evaluating professional development opportunities and activities to enhance the professional growth and leadership skills of participants in the quality initiative; providing on-site technical assistance; developing individual classroom and center professional development plans; and demonstrating effective strategies for sustaining quality programs. Duties ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND Assignments include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Provides on-site technical assistance, including assessment, coaching, mentoring, and modeling to improve the quality of instruction available to children. Develops and delivers training (face-to-face and on-line) as needed to the early care and education community on quality improvement and leadership development. Networks with appropriate organizations, agencies programs, and services within the community to determine community needs. Develops materials and resources to meet the needs of the early care and education community. Works closely with early care and education directors/providers and teachers to determine individual program needs and evaluate progress towards goals. Keeps informed of local, state, and federal licensing regulations, as well as national standards assessment tools, that affect quality care for children and youth and communicates this details program participants. Collects and provides accurate documentation of program contacts using contact summary/site visit reports and accurate documentation of attendance at training and/or college-level courses using attendance sheets and evaluation tools. Maintains accurate and up-to-date program files, database and site visit reports as well as program assessments. Provides reports, in an accurate and timely manner, as requested by the department supervisor. Assists the department supervisor in submitting grant proposals, developing work procedures, and in training and orienting new staff. Collaborates with other CCRI trainers on an on-going basis to improve and coordinate the agencys delivery of training and technical assistance. Attends trainings and team and agency meetings to address agency and departmental goals and objectives. Practices professional renewal through a variety of means, such as attending regional and national conferences, participating in professional organizations, and remaining abreast of current research and literature. Collaborates with local and state regulatory and licensing agencies, maintaining close working relationships. Represents the agency effectively and professionally in the community, including participation on community-based committees and presentations at conferences, as appropriate. Demonstrates good interpersonal relationships with customers, fellow employees, and supervisors. Maintains confidentiality regarding departmental and agency matters. Promotes a positive image of the agency in the community. Advocates for children and families in support of the agencys mission and goals. Available to work some nights and weekends to provide training to early childhood professionals in the community. Expertise to establish good and culturally sensitive rapport with colleagues, child care staff, and the public. Performs other duties as needed to further the agencys mission and goals. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES None required. Requirements REQUIREMENTS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or expertise required. Some evening/weekend work and local travel required. EDUCATION and/or BACKGROUND Bachelors Degree in Child Development or related position from an accredited 4-year university NC Early Care and Education Professional Certification, level eleven or higher and apply for and receive the TAP and PDE endorsement within 1yr of hire. Three to 5 years of background as a teacher and/or administrator in an early childhood or school-age program; or 3 to 5 yrs of training background. Knowledge of child growth and development. Knowledge of appropriate programs and services to meet the needs of children and youth. Knowledge of inclusion and special needs best practices (desirable) Skills and willingness to be flexible in performing other job-related tasks as needs arise. Mastery of Microsoft office suite, especially Ms excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft word. Knowledge of North Carolina licensing standards and the Environment Rating Scales. LANGUAGE SKILLS Effective oral and writing skills. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Current drivers license, automobile liability coverage, and access to an automobile on a daily basis. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS The physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the required functions of this job. An employee must be physically able to model quality early childhood education practices in the classroom setting. These physical requirements include, but are not limited to: lifting children, addressing children on their eye level; and mobility and stamina. Normal or corrected sight and hearing are required. The workplace environment at the agency is that of a general office environment characterized by well-lighted work spaces and offices, a moderate noise level and all season climate control.
