This is a place like no other and where you'll do your life's best work.(sm) As the Associate Director, Strategic Engagement for Optum, you will be responsible for collaborating with multiple internal business partners and external client stakeholders (such as John Muir Health) to ensure an exceptional customer background, service level achievement and strong employee engagement. In this role you will serve as a 'change agent' with a deep desire for continuous improvement. We are looking for innovative and creating thinkers inspired to lead in a new and groundbreaking client-centric approach to healthcare outsourcing. Main responsibilities Operationalize the The Optum Performance System (TOPS); facilitate and coach leaders on the use of active daily management methodology (Lean tools) Develop and implement a continuous-performance management program that promotes and rewards excellence, and drives ongoing, multi-directional transparent feedback across all functions (visual management and huddles) Apply issue solving methodology to identify and address operational issues, in collaboration with all stakeholders, to quickly resolve and prevent future occurrences Collaborate on the design and implementation of the Net Promoter System (NPS) strategy with a focus on making every customer contact as successful as possible, resulting in continued loyalty Work with leaders to ensure performance is tracked accurately utilizing internal tools and processes (e.g., dashboards, scorecards, reports) Monitor project performance against established service level agreements and success measures, such as employee engagement, by working with internal business partners and centers of excellence (e.g., finance, human capital) Design, implement and support a peer champions program to drive TOPS into daily operations Lead or help develop program or project scope statements, in consultation with applicable stakeholders (e.g. program/project charter, work plans) You'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in. Minimum requirements Bachelor's Degree in relevant field 5+ years of background in project/program management with background leading project delivery for large, cross functional, projects 3+ years of background driving business process improvements utilizing Lean and/or 6 Sigma methodologies 1+ years of background as a group facilitator or classroom instructor, with excellent verbal and presentation skills Intermediate or better proficiency in Microsoft office, working with Word (create/edit documents), Microsoft excel (create/edit spreadsheets, data entry, etc.), Microsoft power point (create/edit presentations), and MS Outlook (create/edit professional emails, update calendar, etc.) Excellent planning and execution skills. Meticulous and methodical, detail oriented with a demonstrated expertise to dive deep and ask the right questions Background evaluating and determining appropriate course of action to meet business-client needs Primary residence must be located in Northern California, and able to commute to the East Bay (Walnut Creek, CA) location to work onsite in the office up to five days per week Preferred Requirements Graduate degree Certification in a business process improvement methodology (Lean, 6 Sigma, etc.) and/or certification in project management (PMP) Proficiency in MS Project, MS Visio, and MS SharePoint Demonstrated self-starter with strong planning, organization, analytical and problem-solving skills Background working with project stakeholders/business leadership team and presenting project status reports on overall project outcomes and issues Effective communication abilities, both written and verbal, including well-developed people skills Proven background of successfully delivering projects in high pressure, deadline oriented environment Demonstrated background driving process improvements Flexible, agile and adaptable to change In-depth knowledge of Optum service delivery model and operations Careers with Optum.
