Agios Pharmaceuticals is searching for an Associate Director to join our growing Publications & Scientific Communications team in Global Medical Affairs. The Associate Director, Publications & Scientific Communications will report to the Head of Scientific Communications and Publications and will be responsible for the planning and execution of publication and global medical communication plans and tactics, including but not limited to core slide decks, scientific platform, booth content, MSL tools for external use, company organized symposia, and ad-board content. In this central role, the Associate Director will engage with multiple internal and external stakeholders such as Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Translational Research, Biology Research, HEOR, Biostatistics, Training, external authors, investigators, publishers, and medical communications agencies. Critical responsibilities Publication Responsibilities: Responsible for driving execution and delivery of publication tactics according to GPP3 and AGIOS’ SOP. Contribute to the development of the global publication plan with an understanding of how these activities support the overall Medical Affairs Strategy Implement appropriate publication strategy and provide ideas for generating publications to fill clinical and scientific knowledge gaps Lead routine publication team meetings to facilitate strategic discussions/decisions related to publication planning and execution. Interact with alliance partner(s) to ensure that compliant publication processes are followed, facilitates a transparent publication process, participates in publication discussions at team meetings, ensures compliant publication plans are developed and followed Manage publication vendor in all aspects of working relationship Medical Communications Responsibilities: Drive the execution of medical communication tactics (e.g., MSL slide decks, tools, FAQs) including congress activities Contribute to the development of the medical communications plan with an understanding of how these activities support the overall Medical Affairs Strategy Identify and engage internal and external subject matter experts, when appropriate, for participation in medical communication tactic and content development Develop ability in disease area by continuously surveying the medical and scientific literature for the identification of relevant publications. Leading development of monthly literature updates and annotate summaries of key articles Contribute to the development of medical content and execution for congress medical communication activities (e.g. congress medical booth materials and planning) Oversee the agenda development, content creation, and execution for company organized symposia and other meetings Facilitate review and approval of medical communication materials through medical committee review Manage medical communication vendor(s) in all aspects of working relationship Min Qualifications Advanced degree preferred with 8yrs background in publication planning and publication development in an agency or pharmaceutical environment or applicable background working in pharmaceutical environment with transferrable skill set Strong project organizational skills and leadership poise a must to negotiate and facilitate alignment amongst internal and external stakeholders (KOLs, authors) Ability to work with teams and/or agencies to develop abstracts, posters, oral presentations, manuscripts, slide decks and content for scientific and educational programs Excellent and effective interpersonal and communication expertise Must be well organized and able to multi-task in a fast-paced deadline driven environment Ability to understand and interpret regulations and guidelines governing publications and medical communications(e.g. FDA, OIG, GPP3, ICJME) Advanced computer and Internet skills, including knowledge of MS applications such as Ms word, PowerPoint, and Ms excel; PubMed; Reference databases Must be flexible and adaptable to meet the needs of a rapidly growing organization Location: Any: Cambridge applicants preferable but remote applicants considered Ability to travel (US and International) approx 20% of time Key Agios Competencies for Focus Drive & Deliver: Executes and Operates to a High Standard Connect & Relate: Collaborates & Stays in Touch Lead from Every Chair: Empowers Self & Others and Makes Sound Timely Decisions
