The Head of LRSS must be an innovative, service-oriented visionary who coordinates the development of departmental goals and objectives to foster student and faculty use of UNT Libraries resources, collections, and advanced research support services. The dynamic individual in this position works to form close collaborative relationships with the Toulouse Graduate School, Vice Provost for Faculty Success, Faculty Senate, CLEAR, the Graduate Student Council, and other relevant groups at UNT to support advanced research initiatives. Duties may also include providing reference services, assisting with collection development, and teaching library instruction sessions. The Head of LRSS exercises broad independent judgment and authority under the general direction of the Associate Dean for Public Services. The LRSS Head also serves as a subject librarian. Subject Librarian duties include providing instruction, research assistance, and the creation and maintenance of subject guides for the disciplines. The librarian serves on library and faculty committees and workgroups. Responsible for leading the activities of the Library Research Support Services Department Supervises and evaluates the performance of 5 librarians Evaluates operations of the department to make the best use of technology, staff and resources Develops departmental goals that support the Libraries' Strategic Plan Leads the department in providing excellent customer service Serves on the Public Services Management Team and collaborates with other department heads to provide a cohesive background for students, faculty, staff and community.
