Summary The College of Engineering's (CoE) Office of the Associate Dean for Graduate and Professional Education (ADGPE) is looking for Application Review Specialists to assist with a program to review applications for graduate degree programs within the College. CoE's graduate programs are top ranked in the nation and its researchers are internationally recognized. Our mission is to recruit and develop a talented and diverse body of students from all 50 states and over 100 countries.Our Application Review Specialists must be able to work remotely and have a personal computer that supports such work to review applications from both domestic and international applicants. This position will be responsible for holistically assessing the quality of the application materials provided by each candidate and providing a thorough review for the admissions teams.Two groups of application review specialists will be hired; the first group will begin training in November, and the second will begin training in early January. These are temporary positions with an anticipated end-date of early March 2024. Candidates must be available to devote 20 hours each week for the duration of the application cycle to this position. Learn more about DEI at Michigan Engineering: https://www.engin.umich.edu/culture/diversity-equity-inclusion/ Responsibilities* Assist with the online review of CoE graduate applications and documenting specific information to assist faculty and admissions teams Read and evaluate a specified number of applications weekly, as determined by the supervisor Effectively communicate the merits of applications Evaluate applications based on holistic criteria provided by CoE Participate in interactive training sessions and check-in meetings Required Qualifications* Bachelor's degree or combination of education and experience in the higher education setting Exceptional judgment and discretion when handling confidential information and materials Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong attention to detail Demonstrated ability to meet strict deadlines Ability to work independently within guidelines provided by the Admissions & Recruitment team Access to reliable internet and secure personal computer Working knowledge of Google Suite (GMain, Docs, Sheets), and ability to learn new software quickly and efficiently UM EEO/AA Statement Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Extremely high level of organization and attention to detail Exceptional communication skills Capable of working independently within a structured framework Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks efficiently Ability to use discretion in managing confidential information Commitment to CoE's mission Strong computer skills required Desired Qualifications* Prior experience in academic admissions or application review U-M EEO/AA Statement The University of Michigan is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer.
