Admissions Officer – Flintshire Temp Vacancy Umbrella Pay Rate: £31.27ph Full-Time 37 hours Job Purpose: To implement the local authority’s statutory duties in relation to school admissions and transfers in accordance with Welsh Government legislation and the local authority’s admissions policy, procedures and criteria. The post holder is responsible for the efficient and accurate allocation of school places in accordance with legislation and policy. All places allocated must be supported by written documentation in case of subsequent legal challenge. The post holder is often subject to confrontational situations and must deal calmly and professionally with the consequences of refusing school places. Accountabilities: Maintenance and daily use of the Capita ONE Admissions and Transfers module, ensuring accuracy of data held through validation processes and investigation with other agencies if necessary. Ensure that data held is accurate, relevant and up to date in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulations. Verify and process pupil information contained in online applications, investigating and resolving discrepancies where necessary. This may include investigation of potentially fraudulent information. Provide information and answer queries from headteachers, parents, pupils, Members, governing bodies and external agencies on all aspects of admissions including availability of places, the admissions policy and timetable and how to appeal if a place is refused. Ensure advice and procedures comply with current legislation and policy in order to avoid potential legal challenges at Appeal Hearings and complaints to the Public Services Ombudsman. Explain legislation and policy and communicate decisions, some of which may be unacceptable to parents. Ensure confrontational situations with parents are handled in a professional manner, using tact and diplomacy and provide advice in accordance with legislation. Resolve conflicts regarding.
