Adjunct Faculty-Language Arts - High School Equivalency (GED)Aurora Downtown Campus Part-time Adjunct FacultyHybrid Option: No Waubonsee Community College promotes diversity in faculty, staff, and student recruitment and is committed to hiring and retaining exceptional faculty and staff who are committed to the college's culture of collaboration, professional growth and student success.Teach Adult Basic and Adult Secondary Education classes in Language Arts and Social Studies. Classes are designed to prepare students to pass the Illinois High School Diploma Exam (GED). Instructors will provide educational activities within the scope of a developed curriculum that assists students in achieving their goals. The use of multiple teaching strategies to serve the diverse needs of adult learners is expected. High School Equivalency(GED) Language Arts classes meet face to face, 2 days per week from 6pm to 9pm Tuesday and Thursday. Spring classes begin January 21st, 2025.ResponsibilitiesDeliver instruction and conduct assigned classesPrepare lessons and syllabus based on approved curriculum and syllabus templateEnsure student enrollment, attendance, and grades are submitted in a timely mannerWork with Transition Advisors to insure student persistence and transitionComplete New Teacher OrientationFulfill State mandated 12 hours of Adult Education Professional Development per fiscal yearMinimum QualificationsBachelors degree in Language Arts, Social Studies, Sciences, or related fieldStrong technology skillsExperience working with diverse non-traditional Adult LearnersDesire to help change livesPreferred QualificationsBi-LingualK - 12 Teacher CertificationMaster's degree in Adult Education or Education related fieldICCB Adult Education Standards Certification trainingUnderstanding of Canvas, DAISI, I-pathways, IXL, and CASAS a plusPlease attach the following documents when applying: 1 Cover Letter-Yes 2 Resume-Yes 3 References-Yes (Can be provided at interview) 4 Unofficial Transcripts-Yes (Official will be required if hired)Position Detailsreq1864Grant Funded: YesCompensation Type: Hourly , 60-65/hrWork Schedule: Spring Semester 2 days per week from 6pm to 9pm Tuesday and Thursday Testing: No Targeted Hire Date: 12/9/2024Special Instructions: Please attach all required items at time of application.
