Actors needed for 30 min research study @stanford.edu
PhD researchers in the Linguistics Department are looking for actors to read scripts that will be used in language and communication experiments. You'll be audio-recorded performing the short scripts with another actor, and you'll be asked to perform the scripts a number of times using different intonation and rhythm. Our goal is for these recordings to sound as natural as possible. The recording session will last up to 30 minutes, and you'll be paid $15 for participating. Actors of all genders, ages, and ethnic backgrounds welcome, but you must be a native speaker of American or Canadian English to participate. This means that you've lived in the U.S. or Canada speaking English since age five or earlier. If you are interested in participating, please send a quick email with the following info: - your age - your gender (you'll be paired to read the scripts with an actor of a different gender) - your racial or ethnic background (all welcome - we just want to recruit a diverse set of actors) - whether you've been speaking English in the U.S. or Canada since birth, or at what age you moved to the U.S. or Canada and began speaking English - your background with acting (can be formal or informal background - we just need people who can read the scripts in a way that sounds natural and and can match another actor's rhythm and intonation) - all the days and times for the next 2 weeks that you'd be available to come to Margaret Jacks Hall (bldg 460) to do the recordings.
