Job Summary The Access Services Supervisor at Judson University's Benjamin P. Browne Library is responsible for overseeing all Circulation Desk and Interlibrary Loan services and activities. The Access Services Supervisor manages the maintenance of the print periodicals and print book collections. This is a full-time staff position that is nonexempt and on-site. Primary Responsibilities Essential Functions Hire, train, schedule, supervise, and do performance reviews for student employees and Evening & Weekend Supervisors. Insightfully delegate Access Services tasks and projects to student workers and Evening & Weekend Supervisors. Provide oversight to ensure that the tasks and projects are completed well. Oversee the functions of the Circulation Desk. Manage all aspects of interlibrary loan which includes requesting, borrowing, copyright compliance, usage statistics, delivery and receipt of materials, fines, and lost items. Manage the print periodicals collection by checking in periodicals, submitting claims for lost items, shelving, doing collection maintenance, and keeping usage statistics. Manage the print book collection by doing inventory, shelving, dusting and facing, shifting, and book repair. Communicate and enforce library policies and procedures. Support the mission and goals of the University and the library. Additional Responsibilities Commit to learn about how to meet the needs of Judson University's diverse community. Review and update Circulation Desk, Interlibrary Loan, and student employee policies and procedures accordingly. Monitor the library, remind patrons of library policies and procedures, preemptively address situations, and deescalate conflict to provide a safe and productive environment for patrons. Attend library department meetings. Attend Judson University staff meetings and events. Serve on campus committees. Pursue professional development. Assist in the selection of books, journals, databases, and other library resources. Participate in additional library projects, library events, and campus events, as needed. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications The minimum educational requirement for this position is a bachelor's degree. In addition to a bachelor's degree, a Library Technical Assistant (LTA) Certificate and/or previous library employment is preferred. Promote a positive, Christ-centered work environment. Demonstrate an active and growing Christian faith. Possess moderate-to-advanced technology skills. Programs regularly used include: Alma/Primo, OCLC's WorldShare, online library databases, online timecard system, Windows 11, Microsoft products, and Adobe products. Affinity for mentoring young adults through one of their first job experiences. Ability to create order out of complex projects and circumstances. Comfort with working alongside of distractions and interruptions. Aptitude for detailed work. Model excellent customer service. Some regular evening hours are required to overlap with the schedules of the Evening & Weekend Supervisors for communication, training, and supervisory purposes. Supervisory Responsibility Positions that report to the Access Services Supervisor Evening & Weekend Supervisors (2 or 3 employees) Circulation Assistants (student employees) The Access Services Supervisor reports to the Library Director. Salary/Benefits Salary based on qualifications, education, and work experience.
