Worship Band Leader Position
Opening for worship leader/musician
Ministry Focus: The ministry focus of the Worship Band Leader shall be to incorporate a variety of Christian music into the worship life of the congregation, supporting and enhancing the vision and mission statement of the congregation.Qualifications: The Worship Band Leader should have some formal training in Music and experience in worship leadership. The Worship Band Leader should possess skills of the highest caliber according to the following priorities: Familiarity and experience with modern worship styles, a passion for integration and implementation of 21st century directions in worship, music and the arts, and an appreciation for and comfort with more formal hymns and liturgical expressions, as well. Audio equipment, management and production. Keyboard expertise and/or other lead instrument or vocal ability adequate to lead worship services and to lead choral and instrumental rehearsals. Ensemble directing abilities to facilitate musical groups and experiences in worship. The Worship Band Leader must be a committed Christian who is able to lead others in growth of their faith by word and example. Prefer familiarity with Lutheran theology and liturgy, as well as appreciation for modern musical, spiritual, and liturgical expression and desire to help the Church be more missional through worship experience.Coaching: The Worship Band Leader receives support, guidance and evaluation from the Pastor(s) and shall work closely with OSLC staff in serving the worship, music and artistic ministries of the congregation.Duties and Responsibilities:1. Provide worship and musical leadership and/or resources at 10:45 services at OSLC on a weekly basis.2. Direct contemporary small vocal/instrumentals ensemble in music selection, rehearsal and regular weekend worship leadership for most 10:45 Sunday worship services.3. Occasionally lead worship at 8:15 Sunday services—either individually or collaboratively with other staff musicians and music groups.4. Accompany worship for Saturday evening worship once per month.5. Oversee audio systems of the congregation to enhance and expand the worship life of the congregation.6. Prepare for and lead HS youth choir trip to Minnesota in November (Sounds Like Love)7. Assist, as requested, with Wednesday evening music and worship elements, including rehearsals and midweek worship services.8. Regularly consult with the pastors, Director of Worship, Music and Arts and other OSLC staff for worship planning and related issues—this includes attending worship planning and staff meetings on regular basis.9. Assist with musical leadership for FEAST partners, both after worship and periodically within worship leading.10. Perform other duties as requested by Pastor(s).Compensation: This is a part-time (20 hours/week) position. The Worship Band Leader's compensation shall be reviewed annually during the formation of the budget. In addition to annual compensation, the Worship Band Leader may use the church facilities for private music instruction as the calendar of the congregational activities permits and may access the general continuing education pool along with other OSLC staff.General Personnel Policies: All other matters regarding employee/employer rela¬tionships shall be as outlined in the OSLC personnel policy manual.
