Teach Drawing! Part time! Multiple Openings! Do you live in Portland or Hillsboro? Do you have experience with groups of children in K – 5th grade? Do you love to draw? Young Rembrandts is a national after school drawing program. Our innovative step-by-step process teaches children basic drawing techniques. The curriculum is fun and encourages children to express their imaginations while improving their motor skills, patience, focus and ability to stay on task. We will train you in the YR methodology and teaching techniques. You do not need to be a certified or licensed teacher, but you MUST have experience working with children 5 to 11 years old. Your experience can be from classroom work, camp leadership, teaching or other experiences in which you had responsibility for motivating groups of children and guiding behavior. Babysitting is not sufficient experience. Young Rembrandts teaches in public and private schools after the regular school day is over. We are an after school program. Most of our instructors work two or three afternoons per week. Our classes are 60 minutes long, once a week at each school. Instructors are assigned to schools and stay with the same schools throughout the year. Our classes begin anywhere between 2:15 pm and 3:50 pm, depending on the school district. We teach five days a week, however, the majority of our classes are on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Therefore, IT IS IMPERATIVE YOU BE AVAILABLE ON TWO OR MORE OF THOSE DAYS. Schools are rarely located on bus lines so you must have your own reliable car. We provide all the art materials and you take them to class with you. The supplies are carried in a rolling cart and can weigh up to 20 pounds, so you must be able to transport the supplies to and from the classroom. Join us!
