STAFF SYSTEMS ANALYST/PROGRAMMER (Job Number: 1200236) Location: Glen Burnie, MD Please email resumes to (click to respond) if interested! Position details The Staff Systems Analyst/Programmer is responsible for the development of user specifications. This role will research, design, and implement systems. This position will evaluate programs and make program recommendations to management. The Staff Systems/Analyst Programmer will provide technical leadership to other personnel. Key Duties / Responsibilities Analyze client supplied data files for accuracy. Generate programming logic to convert client supplied data files to a standardized output file format. Read and understand project data processing requirement instructions as delivered by customer or Client Manager. Work directly with the Client Manager, the Product Developer and possibly the external customer on all projects as a member of the project implementation team. High focus on quality output. Provide after-hours support on occasion. Understand and adhere to all departmental Quality Assurance policies and procedures. Works with users to develop specifications. Researches, designs, and implements systems and/or programs to meet those specifications. Works with Project Leader, management and user areas to determine appropriate solutions. Provides recommendations on programming needs in area of responsibility and obtains appropriate management concurrence. Develops and writes new programs to satisfy user requirements. Program complexity can be intricate, complex and requires high-level of issue solving and background. Ensures technical integrity and reliability of designs and implementations. Evaluates programs and systems to determine if they are meeting both user requirements and MIS quality criteria. Makes recommendations both formally and informally to MIS and user management on areas of enhancement and modification. Participates in system project activities with project leaders and users. Leads effort as appropriate and carries out work plans as defined in conjunction with project leader or systems development manager. Provides technical leadership, guidance to lower level personnel. Makes recommendations in technical areas of responsibility and ensures all appropriate areas understand scope and direction of project. Completes special projects and performs other related duties as required. Documents all codes developed or modified plus provides guidance to others under direction. Ensures Development process is followed and takes necessary steps to enhance if needed. Communication & Contacts Required Position is in constant contact with sales, financial institutions, other company locations, and other corporate employees. Provides necessary recommendations formally and informally; establishes excellent rapport with appropriate user groups. Decision Making Determines project feasibility of a technical nature. Determines best alternative of multiple approaches. Determines appropriate walk-through and quality measurements. Requirements Education & Knowledge Required Requires a Bachelor's degree in Business Data Systems, Computer Science or related position Requires knowledge of programming languages, tools, data bases and business knowledge. Background / Skills / Abilities Required Requires 6 to ten years of background; previous work background in programming and actual background in appropriate business area helpful. five plus years programming background on the HPe3000 MPE iX computer platform is a requirement. COBOL is the programming language required on the HPe3000. Other skill sets such as VB6 or .NET would be a plus. Other HPe3000 specific skills sets include IMAGE database background, KSAM index file utility and VPLUS. Other ETL toolset background would be favorable. Examples are DataLever, SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), DataFlow Manager, etc.. third party tool background with SUPRTOOL and MPEX would be very beneficial. Working understanding of ETL processes regarding data manipulation, data conversion and data standardization is a requirement. Background in a Direct Marketing or Marketing Services production environment would be preferred but not necessary. Must be able to provide after-hours support on occasion. Support can be performed remotely. Should possess strong communication abilities both verbal and in written format. Must ms excel in a high energy environment and be able to multi-task. Must be able to work unaided with minimal supervision.
