Position #: 12-79 Title: Staff Scientist Department: Wight Lab Status: Part time (20 hours per week) Responsibilities and Qualifications: Under general supervision of a Principal Investigator, the Staff Scientist conducts independent biomedical research relevant to current projects at BRI. The position includes these responsibilities: Design and implementation of projects Documentation and analysis of experimental results Preparation of data for publication and/or presentation Operation and maintenance of specialized instrumentation Conducting literature search. Continuous reading of scientific journals to keep current on related research May work with other scientific staff members in writing research grant/contract applications for funding of research projects Collaborate with other labs within BRI and UW. Discuss scientific projects in the context of experimental design and interpretation of results Responsible for all aspects of supervising interns or research technicians, including recruitment, employee relations, performance evaluation, teaching, and experimental design of projects Writing and submitting manuscripts for publication in scientific journals and grant applications for funding research Ph.D. and min of 2yrs related postdoctoral training. Animal Handling Certificate may be required. Some experience in extracellular matrix biology is preferred.
