Working as a team,Kleinfelder’s bright people will deliver the right solutions.Kleinfelder is seeking Seasonal Field Technicians to conduct botanical surveys in field locations throughout Duchesne and Uintah Counties in northeast Utah. Field surveys may include threatened and endangered plant surveys, noxious weed inventories, habitat assessments and soil surveys.This is a temporary position to begin in Mid-March (official start date to be determined), and last through June 30th, and possibly longer. Local individuals will be given preference and are strongly encouraged to apply. Pay Rate: $15-$18 (+ overtime) Housing will not be provided.The majority of the work performed will involve botanical surveys for Threatened Cactus (Sclerocactus) prior to oil & gas development in the immediate area. Surveys will be conducted in groups typically ranging in size between 6 and 12 individuals. Surveyors scan the ground for signs of Sclerocactus while walking at a moderate pace parallel to one another. To maximize the area covered during a survey, individuals are spaced approximately 3-6 feet apart.This position typically requires long hours in the field (10-12 hours a day), traversing through difficult desert terrain, adverse weather conditions (including extreme temperatures), and group cooperation.Hired personnel will work closely in groups to complete required tasks efficiently, paying close attention to detail and survey protocol. Compliance with all safety protocol and procedures is required.A drug screening and physical are required prior to hiring.Hired personnel will be responsible for getting themselves to a designated meeting point (to be determined later, but somewhere in/around Roosevelt, UT) prior to the start of each day. Start time will vary, but typically begins at, or just after sunrise. This is a temporary position to begin in Mid-March (official start date to be determined), and last through June 30th, and possibly longer. Housing will not be provided.Desired QualitiesBotany background or a strong understanding of local vegetation 1-2 years related field experience with Threatened/endangered plant surveys and/or Noxious weed inventories Must be comfortable navigating in remote locations using GPS, topographic maps Be able to walk 10-15 miles a day in potentially adverse conditions Be able to drive a 4x4 vehicle, towing trailers or drive an ATV Previous experience working in UT, CO, WY or surrounding states strongly desired Be able to work closely in a group and maintain a positive attitude. First AID and CPR certification preferred Must have valid driver’s license, clean driving record and have the ability to pass drug test and physical EducationHigh school degree or equivalent required.
