Position description: Responsible for planning, developing, reviewing and creating of test plans and test cases. This Lead Quality Engineer possesses the required skills and experience to understand the infrastructure and applications under test. This position necessitates close collaboration with other SQA members, business analysts and developers.Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Ensure the release of quality applications through early involvement in software application design, coordination of testing efforts and direct contact with both internal and external customers.Ensure all product deliverables meet or exceed quality standards.Ensure each project meets or exceeds contractual obligations within predefined schedule constraints.Work with minimal or no supervision on multiple concurrent tasks and to coordinate the work of others in this environment. Review business qualifications and functional specifications.Coordinate with Test Engineers and Product Teammates to establish delivery dates and testing estimates.Maintain and track quality control schedule.Review and compile results of testing and present recommendations for each release.Coordinate offshore testing activities.Document, communicate, and track software defects and participate in root cause analysis to determine preventative QA solutions.Work with software engineering and business groups to improve QA processes. Employ the appropriate level of tact and diplomacy needed for maintaining a cooperative relationship with developers and customers.Able to communicate with both technical and non-technical people.Assist Test Engineers in developing the project test strategy and test plans.Help mentor and grow teammates in best practices for QA activities related to the software engineering life cycle. Quickly gain and share ability on the applications under test.Define and track quality assurance metrics such as defect densities and open defect counts.Education and Experience: Bachelors degree in computer science, MIS, other computer related discipline or equivalent experience in computer related position required.Five plus years experience in software engineering and/or testing required.Three or more years in leadership position preferred.Prior work in leading quality assurance / software testing preferred.(2) Competencies Technical / Functional and ManagerialMandatory Technical / Functional:Technical Knowledge: Advanced knowledge of the software engineering life-cycle (SDLC) and QA / software testing methodologies and concepts required.Understand project management process methodologies.Understand when and how to get issues resolved and decisions made.Strong issue solving and leadership skills required.Strong analytic and conceptual skills required. Strong skills in evaluating functional/system specification and test case documentation for accuracy and completeness.Ability to articulate technical issues to testers, developers, managers and customers required.Demonstrated skill to manage and lead resources.Experience managing testing activities for multiple applications / releases preferred.Excellent writing and oral communication abilities required.Must be able to multi-task, be flexible, detail oriented and work in a changing environment.Must be capable of designing test scenarios with limited or incomplete info.Extensive experience with Windows, Microsoft Project, Microsoft excel and Ms word required.Extensive QA experience of web applications required.Experience with black-box testing required.Extensive experience with MySQL or Oracle required.Experience with HP Quality Center required.QA experience of rich Internet applications (RIA) and mobile applications required.Ability to work extended hours, as this may be required to support existing applications and to meet delivery dates for new or revised applications.Experience with MongoDB desired.Web Service testing experience preferred.Experience with test automation tools preferred.Assessment delivery domain knowledge preferred.Preferable Skills:People skills: Thrives on challenging projectsSelf-motivated and highly responsibleMust be creative thinkers to design automated systems.Ability to work unaided and prioritize multiple tasks concurrently Strong organizational, communications, documentation and presentation skillsEffectively collaborates with other IT stakeholders to understand their needsEffectively listens for understanding and can transform that understanding into functional testing requirementsDemonstrate strong leadership skills that can provide focus for a group to collaborate closely to produce a professional quality product (4) Education / Experience / Skill sets Education: Bachelors of Arts /Bachelors of Science in computer science or a computer related discipline preferred, or the equivalent experience in computer related position.Experience: 5+ YEARS(5) Personal AttributesAbility to operate independently and prioritize multiple tasks concurrently Strong organizational, communications, documentation and presentation skillsJob Location: Iowa City, IA 52240Rate: $45/hrDuration: Long termPlease send us your Contact info & Updated Resume at (click to respond), Thanks & RegardsSudhirr.
