Description:
• Designs/develops new or revised products to support market needs. • Gains and applies knowledge of industry and customer needs to develop game changing new products. • Applies internal and supplier manufacturing capabilities into final designs (DFM). • Strong abilities in FEA, DFMEA, 3D modeling and physical prototyping. • Manages project timelines and product costs, and communicates to the product development department and general management team. • Design and develop new products and enhance and improve existing products based upon industry practices and needs for breakthrough products and systems. • Utilizes input from marketing data and manufacturing studies. • Create concepts, 3D models and assemblies, detailed drawings, and bill of materials in SolidWorks to support product ideation and communication and specifications for manufacturing of components and assemblies.• Apply knowledge of internal standards and the company value system, customer requirements and needs, and industry formal standards into design concepts to ensure successful product acceptance and market excitement.• Apply standard new product development tools such as brainstorming, product ideation, DFMEA, FEA, 3D modeling, prototypes, for initial product definition. Further, the position requires application of team concepts such as design review, manufacturing review, cost analysis, prototype and preliminary product testing and review, and solid abilities in communication all phases of the product design to cross-functional management.• Create, maintain and successfully meet schedules for projects, working with prototyping companies and suppliers to successfully meet or exceed product performance and project deliverable timelines. Requirements:• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar degree with 10+ years of product design and development experience with mechanical systems and components. • Experience in the fenestration industry (residential, commercial) or in Building Products (weatherproofing systems and components), or allied field required. • Working knowledge of various manufacturing processes including metal extrusion, plastic extrusion, injection molding, and assembly techniques. • Proven experience in successfully managing multiple product development and launch programs.• Strong Proficiency with 3D CAD modeling, assembly, and detailing, preferably Solidworks. Proficiency with MS Office software, including MS Project. Detail oriented with excellent analytical skills. • Work history shows a proven track record of new product design and patents.Open to candidates wanting to relocate to the area
