Reporting functionally to the General Manager of Upgrading Operations, the Shift Supervisor's (second/third Class Power Engineer) purpose is to comply and enforce The Power Engineers Regulations as described in Albertas Regulation 85/2003 within the Safety Codes Act. Note: This position is located in Fort McMurray, a northern Canadian city rich in resources and cultural diversity nestled in the Boreal Forest in Wood Buffalo. Primary Responsibilities: Overall responsibility of the Environmental Units, this individual will manage critical company assets to ensure we deliver and exceed on our Environmental performance. Monitoring and reporting on all operating boilers within the Upgrading area to the Boilers Branch in order to meet increased regulatory requirements. Making key decisions with respect to the units/assets they are responsible for to ensure compliance. Troubleshooting issues and operations deviating from targets to ensure safe and efficient operation of the Upgrading assets. Review, consult, and execute daily directives as outlined by Operations Area Manager or Operation Coordinators and Chief Power Engineer Accurately record plant status, shift and assistant shift engineers, and conditions that may affect the safe operation of the plant in the log book. Monitor operation of the power boilers and thermal liquid heating systems Review daily operating logs to ensure conciseness and clarity. Conduct regular audits to verify compliance of the PSV block valve car-seal program within regulations Requirements: second or third Class Power Engineering Accreditation (valid in Alberta) 5+ Years or Supervisory experience in Oil and Gas Strong leadership skills Continuous Improvement Focus Excellent Communication/people skills proven ability to motivate and mentor people Experience in writing procedures/incident investigations/involved with performance evaluations Excellent Safety focus Prefer to have supervised union personnel before Excellent people skills, troubleshooting techniques and ability to make informed decisions are critical requirements for this role.
