Job Summary: The position will identify, engage, cultivate, solicit and steward current and prospective donors to PCI, focusing on gifts from $10,000 to $100,000 (and more). Position will be responsible for meeting an annual revenue target by developing a portfolio of donors and prospects to advance the mission of the organization. Portfolio will include relevant individuals, corporations and foundations.The position has primary role in the relational development structure in support of major giving outside of San Diego County and Southern California. The position will share the effort to raise private philanthropic support through the major gift function with a team that includes the Vice President of Development and the Senior Director of Development and is based in San Francisco, CA. Key Duties and Responsibilities:• Personally identify, cultivate, and solicit potential/existing donors at all levels for current and major gifts.• Develop and implement strategies for the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of individual, corporate and foundation donors and prospects.• Develop annual plan for donor portfolio and assignments. Monitor annual plan results and modify as necessary.• Make a predetermined number of contacts.• Achieve a specific dollar goal as determined between the Development Director and Vice President for Development.• Develop expert familiarity with PCI programmatic offerings; maintain working knowledge of programmatic priorities and funding opportunities for donors.• Engage Board of Directors and other PCI volunteer groups and supporters in fundraising efforts.• Team with CEO and Vice President of Development when appropriate on fundraising efforts.• Partner with institutional leadership when appropriate to assist with donor relationship building or solicitation. Involve organization and/or program leadership by coordinating their activities and directing their involvement with donors when appropriate.• Participate in special events and donor recognition programs.• Adhere to the agreed-upon budget for costs associated with fundraising efforts.• Additional duties as assigned by the Vice President.Position Parameters/Special Requirements• Position will operate remotely away from PCI Headquarters and Development Department.• May be required to attend meetings outside of normal business hours, i.e. evenings and weekends• Domestic travel likely 40% of time. • Potential international travel to those locations where PCI is conducting business. • Attendance at various conferences as required.Required Qualifications• Bachelor’s degree required, and minimum of seven years of successful fundraising experience. (International non-profit fundraising experience a plus.)• Nine to eleven years of professional experience with a minimum of 7 years in a similar role and at a similar organizational level.• Knowledge of the principals and practices associated with upgrading donors to major (and planned) gifts a must.• Proven ability to close gifts at the five and six-figure level.• Ability to work independently.• Experience in a position with accountability for result (quantitative) and process (qualitative) oriented goals.• Able to deliver results within the established timeframes while managing multiple priorities. Must be flexible and adaptable.• Excellent analytical and self-motivational skills; excellent advocacy and persuasive skills; able to think critically.• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, including excellent publishing and presentation skills and experience.• Experience in word processing, spread sheet and data base software required.
