An established and growing real estate and mortgage company is seeking a Mortgage Underwriter to join its Virginia Beach corporate team. The mortgage underwriter will investigate the financial condition and credit history of potential borrowers and make credit decision for candidates based on company and insurer guidelines and regulations for VA, FHA, conventional, and VHDA mortgages. The mortgage underwriter must have 3+ years of mortgage underwriting background in Virginia; thorough knowledge of mortgages guidelines including VA, FHA, conventional, and VHDA; a current mortgage underwriting license with additional certifications highly preferred; proven expertise to effectively make independent decisions; strong analytical and issue solving abilities; excellent organizational and communications skills; and expert knowledge of credit issues and local properties.
